Introduction to Final Cut Pro
This three-day hands-on course teaches students to perform basic editing functions, while becoming familiar with the interface of Final Cut Pro. In this course, you will edit a scene from the television series "Leverage", create a promo for Seaworld's documentary "Believe", as well as learn how to master filters and effects by editing a section from "Playing for Change - the international music creating initiative.
You start with basic video editing techniques and work all the way through to Final Cut Pro's powerful advanced features. Along the way, you will learn how to select and edit video, mix audio, adding titles, creating transitions, applying filters and much more. Steps include basic settings, custom settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, Ripple, Roll, Slip and Slide tools, audio editing and post-processing and export. This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to edit professionally with Final Cut Pro, through hands-on excercises and interactive learning.
The course includes:
- Clip selection, using insert, overwrite and drag-and-drop editing
- Trimming edit points
- Using Ripple-, Roll- and Extend-editing as well as Slip- and Slide-tools
- Using filters and changing Motion-properties.
- Audio editing and audio creation
- Polish and export

This course is designed for editors, producers, film editors and assistant editors who want to learn a more efficient workflow when working with Final Cut Pro.
Requirements
This course requires the following prior knowledge:
- Basic understanding of MacOSX.
- A background in editing, production or postproduction is recommended.
The course combines lectures with hands-on excercises under the teacher's guidance.
At the end of the course, you may choose to take the optional online exam in order to obtain the official Apple certificate.
The course spans three days, normally three consecutive days, between 9 am and 5 pm
